"Just under a year ago, I
sought the assistance of a Coach as my business was 6 years old, and I
wanted to take it to another level of professionalism and
profitability….
At first I was worried that Kathy was going to come to me with a
preconceived and inflexible notion of how I
‘should’ be running my business. I didn’t
want someone to impose a rigid framework onto my project with no regard
for my personal vision or philosophy.
Instead, I was impressed with the holistic approach … with
the first stage of the program focused on helping me to understand
myself, what I want, and how I want to achieve it.
Having
become clear about what I hope to achieve, Kathy then devised
practical things for us to do to begin work on our goals. We have made
big improvements to the physical environment that have removed a lot of
clutter and made best use of the space available - making us more
efficient and clear headed. This was a very
‘cleansing’ process, and we all felt the benefits
at once.
Next, Kathy asked us all to
identify what our roles and responsibilities were within the
business. She then challenged me, and my office manager, to delegate as
many
tasks as possible to other staff members. Because this process involved
everyone, it gave the whole team a sense of involvement and
validation, and the general staff welcomed their new roles and
responsibilities.
As
changes were
made, new issues arose. Some of these were practical, and some,
emotional. Kathy has always made herself available by
telephone or in person as these situations occurred, and has always
been able to offer ideas, resources, suggestions of books to read, or
motivational ‘affirmations’ which have always
proved to be
pertinent and useful.
She has been able to set definite plans of action on one
day, and then helped me talk through a powerful dream on another day!
Her breadth of knowledge, her sensitivity and perceptiveness, and
her ability to challenge and nurture simultaneously are remarkable.
With
Kathy’s guidance and assistance, we have achieved more in our
business in the last nine months than we have ever achieved. I feel
energised and inspired by the whole process. In many ways, I have
‘fallen in love’ all over again with my business,
and am confident
that I can grow and develop it, whilst staying true to my personal
vision.
